HOW WE GOT HERE
Hey! I’m Catherine. My husband Ryan and I, both originally from the outskirts of Tuscaloosa, never knew what home really was until we chose to move our family (daughter, Hadley, almost 9 and son Casen, 6) to Helena in May of 2020. Having spent the few years prior to our move driving to Helena on a weekly basis to visit friends, one cute little white building spoke to me every time we passed through Old Town.
I’ve been a cosmetologist for 14 years but have never owned my own storefront. For the past 10 years I have spent my career working as a full time cosmetology instructor at The Paul Mitchell School in Birmingham. Having my own salon was something I’d always hoped for, but Ryan and I have never mapped out a timeline for our goals and try our best to follow God’s plan as it comes.
Once settled in our new home in Helena, Ryan began hounding me to call about that cute little white building. In my heart I didn’t feel ready, but God said “Why?”
I put off calling and watched as the building sat empty for two solid months—all the while still feeling a continuous tug on my heart to make something happen despite my reservations.
On Thanksgiving week 2020, Ryan decided to take matters into his own hands and went and looked at the building without me. When I got off work that afternoon, he called and said “Let’s go pick up the lease. The building is yours!”
I truly thought he was joking...
But he wasn’t! And here we are just a few months later...painting walls, hanging signs, and building my first salon storefront all in God’s perfect timing!
